Sure, we all have our favorite models, but how many automotive nameplates have really made a difference over the years? For Ford, you could probably count them all on one hand: Start with the Model T, the Model A, the Mustang and, of course, the Taurus.

OK, so here's a shocker: models are skinny. A few days ago Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel caused a stir when she bent over during a photo shoot and looked shockingly thin. The blogosphere went nuts saying what a bad example she was, blah, blah, blah. Is she thin? Undoubtedly. But if you'll look at other pics from the day like the one I've posted, you'll see that she doesn't really look like she's anorexic; you can't see her hipbones. If anything, she looks sort of photoshopped, which is weird. Like a curvy body, but super skinny. Whatever. I'm not going to debate whether or not models should be scrawny or not. Of course I think they shouldn't, as would most reasonable adult women. And, honestly, I don't care what type of image she portrays for my young daughter because I feel it's my responsibility - not the media's or the fashion world's - to make sure my children grow up balanced and confident. But that's just me. I've always sort of felt sorry for the models I'd see running around between fashion shows. They are impossibly young and thin. And frequently smoking. My biggest question was not why some of the girls were so skinny as much as what type of parent would let her teenager be eaten up by the fashion world. Thoughts?
