Ever since she came back on the modeling scene at 175 lbs, plus-size model Crystal Renn was deemed the face of plus-size girls everywhere. Although at merely a size 12 (at 5'9" you can carry that weight pretty well), she was never really all that plus. The latest pics I just saw of Crystal (these photos, above are actually from March) show that she has lost weight, down to about 150 lbs. (what she says is an 8 or 10, in a NY Magazine interview.) Sadly, even at an 8, she's still considered plus in the fashion world. Does it help to be outraged by the disconnect between the fashion world (where a 5'10", 120 lb. Ralph Lauren model was supposedly fired for being too fat) and the real world (where the average woman wears a 14)? Not really. But it does make me appreciate designers who are more inclusive with their sizing (Badgley Mischka, Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors -- we're talking to you!)
